Mishe, mishe, mishe, mishe...

It has been brought to my attention by Annie M. Shacker, a member of my multitudinous hordes of readers, that my post on February 19 actually preceded Rosh Chodesh Adar by two days. To this I respond, "Quiet, you!" After Annie refused to be silenced, I went and consulted the great Rabbi and sage, Rav Shluffen, whom I now quote:

"I am glad that you came to me, my son. The laws found in Mesechta Purim are some of the most esoteric and difficult to understand in all of Shas. I myself do not understand even a fraction of a fraction of one word in Mesechta Purim. However, I have a tradition in this matter from my Rebbi's father's uncle's barber's great-great-great-grandnephew, who came back in time to tell him this halacha. While it is true that the mitzvah of "Mishnichnas Adar marbim b'simcha" applies only during the month of Adar, we have the superceding chiyuv of "mitzvah gedola liyhot besimcha tamid." Since we hold like Rav Abayei that "hasafah oseh mitzvah," not only is it permissible to begin listening to the song before Rosh Chodesh Adar, it is a chiyuv! However, you should know that the Ar"i z"l held that it is really proper to listen to this song, based on the principle of "ad shelo yada," that one should drink on Purim until he can not recall whether it is Chanukah or Purim.

"I must now ask you to listen carefully- what I am about to tell you is of the utmost importance. I received the following message in a direct chain of tradition along with the halacha which I have just told you. On May 14th, in the year 2015, you must contact a man by the name of Dr. Middos, and tell him that Shnooky Shapiro is at Chaimel's barber shop in Kvetchk, Poland, in 1845. Thank you- you will be doing a big mitzvah."

So you see, in posting the link before Rosh Chodesh, I was in fact mekaven to the de'ah of the great Rav Shluffen. Rav Shluffen, as you may know, is one of the most widely accepted posekim of our times, especially in matters of Hanhagas Haboker and Tefilah.
