Once again, Palestinian terrorists have blown themselves up among women, children, and anyone who committed the crime of taking Egged bus #2 home from the Kotel. Eighteen people were killed. Seventy-four were injured.

We must not become resigned to this! No matter how many Israelis have been murdered, no matter how many attacks have been perpetrated, we should try to feel each one. From one perspective, the violence continues, unchanged. But something has changed! Eighteen people have been cut out of this world. Eighteen families will have funerals tommorow. Thirteen men, women and children will be lucky if all they lose is a limb or an organ. Hundreds of individual people's lives will be changed forever.

We learn that saving a single life is comparable to saving the entire world, and killing a single human being is like destroying the entire world. Perhaps one understanding of that maxim is this: Every person is in this world to change it in some way. Every action one person takes will trickle down to everyone else, whether directly or indirectly, blatantly or subtly. Your world and mine will not be the same because eighteen people are no longer in it. Cry, if you can, for eighteen people - different, unique and special - who can no longer sign their signature on the world.
